A decade and a half have come and gone since the Lander sisters, Morgan (vocals, guitars), and Mercedes (drums), from London, Ontario, Canada first envisioned their band, Kittie. With the release of their fifth album, 2009’s In The Black, metal’s native mistresses have perhaps found the yin to their yang in lead guitarist Tara McLeod, and bassist, Ivy Vujic. The foursome have recorded what is undoubtedly the band’s most fierce and complete album to date. They have a new record company in E1 music, and two videos in the books (“Cut Throat,” “Sorrow I Know”), and a third in the works (“Die My Darling“).
The band, who struggled through an ugly battle with their former label, has emerged scarred, but battle-tested, and in so doing, the feisty femmes, have unearthed a small wealth of metal riches.
After a fruitful trek through Europe with It Dies Today and Malefice, the ladies are home for a few weeks of rest and exercise, before kicking off their next North American tour in March, with God Forbid.
Morgan took some time this week to speak with Metalholic about the new CD, new video plans, touring pranks and tales, Anvil, and much more. So kick back with a cold beer, and enjoy.
