Halestorm Q&A ~ The Tour Must Go On!

Halestorm is one of those unassuming bands that come along every so often that set themselves apart from everyone else without really trying. Their sound is a bridge between classic hard rock and modern melodic metal, accessible to pop fans as well as headbanging rockers. They could share the stage with Journey or Metallica and be readily excepted by both audiences. Halestorm easily fit into any of the musical eras between the 70′s and the present. That’s pretty damn impressive.

In an age when bands have become about individual song downloads, these four Pennsylvania rockers have gone old school, crafting a debut album so strong that there is no room for filler. Each track can stand on its own merit and be turned into a single…and that includes the three bonus tracks as well.

This self-titled album, and these songs are not merely outstanding for this era, but like the songs their parents grew up on, and the music they were inspired by as children, they have created an album of music that will stand the test of time. Songs that will still be vibrant and memorable 25 years from now.

If this glowing endorsement of the band makes me sound like a fan boy, I’ll proudly wear that title. I’m that impressed with Halestorm. As musicians, and more important, as people, they are genuine, and humbled by the response to their music. Their fan following is among the most devoted I’ve seen, and the band is equally devoted and appreciative of their supporters.

This week Halestorm blew through town on their Familiar Taste of Tour, and I had the opportunity to sit down with the band backstage at the Knitting Factory and talk about the tour, their next album, the new video, and the late great Ronnie James Dio. So enjoy the interview…
