Q&A with Mr. Andy Parker

Over the last four decades, English rockers, UFO, have made some of the most seminal albums of the genre. Whether guitar gods like Michael Schenker, Paul Chapman, Atomic Tommy or Vinnie Moore are in the fold, the band just keeps cranking out excellent albums. The band’s Strangers In The Night record is arguably the best live hard rock album of all time. Vocalist Phil Mogg, guitarist/keyboardist Paul Raymond, and drummer Andy Parker remain steadfast members of the band  along with the aforementioned Vinnie Moore. Legendary bassist Pete Way is on indefinite hiatus from the band, but his amplifier is always waiting for his return.

Last year Andy dropped by to fill Metalholic in on everything UFO, as well as a few things we didn’t know about him personally. This year, with the band’s newest album Seven Deadly set to release in late February, the time seemed right to reach out and get an update. While he hadn’t been prepared for the call, the Englishman turned Texan, was as genial as always.

Enjoy as we talk about the new CD, upcoming tour plans, the Monsters of Rock cruise, Michael Schenker, line-up changes over the years, current status of bassist Pete Way, and much more.
